How to Take Good Care of Your Oral Tissues

Posted .

If you want a strong and successful oral health, it’s best to take care of your gums. To help you keep your gums in tip-top shape, Dr. Ron Hernandez and our dedicated dental team encourage you to do the following things on a regular basis:

-Brush: Brush your teeth twice a day (every morning and every night) for two minutes each time. Brush with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Brushing with a soft-bristled brush will clean your smile without harming or irritating your gums. Brushing in general will also help remove the harmful particles from your teeth that create gum disease and other major dental issues.

-Floss: Floss your smile once a day with a flossing product of your choice. Flossing will help remove the plaque and damaging substances from between your teeth, keeping your gums in top-notch condition. As you floss, please be gentle along the gumline.

-Rinse: Rinse your mouth daily with antibacterial mouthwash. Doing so will complete the cleaning job and will kill the bacteria that cause gum disease. When you rinse, swish for 30 to 60 seconds and make sure to follow the instructions on the bottle.

-Visit the dentist: Visit your dentist for your routine cleaning and checkup every six months. This is vital because these appointments involve the only treatment that can completely remove plaque from your smile, which will save your gums from gum disease.
